Skin concern: Oily skin with post-breakout scarring

Ruth's Oily Skin Journey
Having just had a baby, Ruth found her skin extremely oily due to hormonal changes and was also struggling to fade her post breakout pigmentation due to hormonal breakouts throughout her pregnancy. Ruth applied to our skin concern programme for expertise advice on how to fade those pesky pigmentation marks and mattify her oily skin.
Ruth’s results were incredible, seeing not only a reduction in sebum production but also her pigmentation was faded, leaving her with a bright and glowing complexion.
Best Treatment Plan for Oily and Blemish-Prone Skin
Ruth was prescribed a personalised skincare routine by the Skinician inhouse skin specialist, specifically to address her skin concerns and asked to take pictures of her skin before using the products, at 3 weeks to check in on the progress and at 6-8 weeks to see the results. Let’s take a look at the routine Ruth followed to get her amazing results.
Step 1: Cleanse
For Ruth, we decided that as her main concern was oily skin, that our Purifying Cleansing Gel would be the perfect first step in her new routine. Packed full of oil busting Zinc PCA to mattify the skin and reduce sebum production, soothing chamomile and green tea to reduce inflammation and calm breakouts.
Before starting using the Purifying Cleansing Gel for oily skin, Ruth complained that she felt her skin was oily to the touch early in the day with enlarged pores. When asked how her skin felt after she had mentioned that her skin didn't feel as oily and that she didn’t experience an early morning shine the way it had previously.
Ruth was also recommended the Advanced Pro-Radiance Enzyme Cleanser to use every other day. This cleanser is the best for oily skin, not only cleanses skin but also contains Fruit Acids that help to gently exfoliate the skin, leaving dull skill brighter from the first use.
Step 2: Vitamin C Elixir
As one of Ruth’s main concerns was the pigmentation that had been left behind as the result of post breakout scarring, we recommended she included the Vitamin C Elixir into her daily routine. Vitamin C is known for its skin brightening properties and ability to fade pigmentation caused by sun damage, age spots or breakout scarring. The difference this product has made to Ruth’s skin has been incredible, fading her post breakout pigmentation and brightening her over all complexion.
Step 3: Moisturise
A myth commonly believed about oily skin is that adding further hydration will leave skin feeling oilier. This isn’t the case at all; even the oiliest skin needs hydration, the key is ensuring to choose the correct face products for oily skin.
By adding the Purifying Day Moisturiser to Ruth’s routine, she was able to hydrate and protect her skin as this product has been developed specifically for oily and breakout prone skin types. This light-weight formula formulated with a mattifying complex to regulate sebum production also has an SPF30. Often those with breakout prone skin find that an SPF is too heavy for their skin which is why we have developed a moisturiser with an SPF suitable for those with an oilier skin type.
