Why do I need a face mask in my skincare routine?
Face masks are a great way to boost your skins health and radiance as well as target and treat more persistent skin issues. Your mask will contain active ingredients that are not found in your daily routine which makes them a fantastic way to super-charge your weekly home care routine.
When do I use a face mask in my skincare routine?
For best results we would advise that you use your face mask alongside an exfoliant such as the SKINICIAN Facial Exfoliator. When using a face mask in your skincare routine your products should be used in the following order: cleanser, exfoliator, mask, toner, moisturiser. By cleaning and exfoliating your skin before the mask, it will allow the active ingredients in your mask to get into the skin and do their job effectively.
How often should I use a face mask in my skincare routine?
We would advise working a mask in to your weekly skincare routine between 2 and 3 times a week.
What type of face mask is best for my skin type?
The type of face mask that you choose really depends on your skin and what it needs. If you are someone with oily skin or breakout-prone skin look for masks that contain green and white clays combined with inflammatory ingredients such as seaweed or liquorice. The clay will absorb excess oil, minimise pores and reduce the risk of breakouts while the inflammatory ingredients will soothe redness and promote healing. When choosing your clay mask, make sure and go for a mask that does not set i.e., become extremely hard on the skin as this can be difficult to remove and may leave your skin and any breakouts red and irritated.
