Hopefully by now you have heard how important SPF is for the overall health and appearance of your skin. Wearing sunscreen every day is a crucial part of your skincare routine, and without it, you are exposing the sensitive skin on your face to unnecessary damage from sun exposure and UVA rays. We checked in with our SKINICIAN therapist Lindsey to find out her top tips on what to look for when choosing a daily SPF.
Tip 1: Make sure your chosen product has a broad-spectrum SPF. Lindsey’s personal favourite is the Advanced Time Delay Day Cream SPF30 as it helps to protect skin from UV rays whilst also boosting the production of ATP (cellular energy) which improves radiance and provides for a younger looking complexion.
Tip 2: Make sure when applying your cream that you apply onto both the face and the neck as the neck can be one of the first places to show signs of ageing.
Tip 3: A Minimum of SPF 30 needs to be used on your skin every day come rain or shine! UVA rays can reflect of glass and be absorbed by skin, so it is important to make sure you use a face cream with a SPF daily. Sunscreen minimizes the penetration of UV rays into the skin and the triggering of a variety of skin disorders. Even the mildest of sunburns can have damaging effects so it is important to protect your skin.
Tip 4: If using retinol ALWAYS make sure to never leave the house without using SPF as this can make the skin more sensitive to sun and burning.
